Bona, Been busy chasing squirrels and doves. Weather is too nice right Now to be in garage.

Doesn't look like I'm going to get up there to scout. Been checking out google earth though.

I hope I don't fill all my tags before I get there.

Bona I hear ya.

I was thinking about talking to John Scifres and asking what he thought about doing a trade blanket on like saturday night. I'm sure all of us got some stuff we want trade or part with.

I'm assuming I can buy my out of state lic. over the counter. If not someone please let me know. I'd hate to make a 5hr drive to find out I can't hunt due to something like that.

Troy

BTW, if the trade blanket is a go I'll be sure and bring something to trade.

Troy, Lic. are avalible over the counter or online. I usally just print mine out instead of risking getting someone at the store that doesn't have a clue.  Rob

Thanks fellows, I think I will buy on line. I had my lic. messed up afew years ago while on a TX hog hunt. Thank goodness the conservation officer was understanding and willing to follow me back to the wally world I bought them at. They ended up getting the butt chewing instead of me.

This is my teepee. I just got it and set it up on Tues. for the first time. I need to figure out a better way to transport it if I'm going to use it at the hunt. I have some ideas to make the load more stable so I can drive more than 40 mph. That tends to frost the other drivers cookies a bit.
My brother-in-law got called a jerk and it was just a 6 mile drive.  :dunno:

The solution for hunting:
 http://www.kifaru.net/tipi_16man.html

No heavy poles, a stainless steel stove (if needed), optional mosquito netting and lining.

Fits in a backpack if needed.
Got the 8 and 16 man. I was thinking long about a canvas one,but we're not transporting things with horse traverses at walking speeds anymore.
Even with the breakdown poles, it would fill a Pickup truck. There is a reason why the original users often left most of the the poles on site for summer or winter camp....
I can take mine on airplanes as well....

I've wanted one of these ever since reading G.Fred Asbell's stories about them. It is way cool. Maybe not the most practical but he (atleast used to) swear by them.

I've ordered something from a sponsor to bring to the hunt to put on a trade blanket or have a drawing or what ever.

Darren and I just got back from CO a couple hours ago.  I don't even want to think about sleeping outside for a while  :)   We didn't kill but a member of the camp did so we ate backstrap for one dinner and leftovers for breakfast.  Mmmmm.

We can't bring our own firewod unless it is certified, debarked or just lumber.  It's cheap there and helps support the place.

I am open to whatever anyone wants to organize but for me this is a hunting and gathering weekend.  I don't organize nothin'.

My son made team captain for soccer and I missed his first game due to elk hunt so I will be returning to Franklin, IN for Saturday morning for my daughter and his games.  Should be back to camp by 5 pm.  I plan to drive straight to the spot I'll hunt the evening but be back in camp after dark.

Someone needs to save me and Darren our spot on the hill if it is available Friday.  I'll pay you back.  I should be there by 8:00 pm.

Bona, I have a nice hunting spot for you if you want it.  Troy gets the inside corner with the gauranteed 150 roaming around  :)   I'll show you guys on the map and you will have to find them yourselves since I can't hunt Saturday morning.  Climbers or ground hunting would work equally well in these spots.  I can point any newbies to other likely spots too.  This isn't the easiest place to hunt but it's pretty and there are deer there.
Take a kid hunting!

That sounds great John. Glad you're back but sorry you didn't get an elk.

I'm working on sharpening four Grizzly El Grande's with the tutoring of Ron from KME. I'm saving one to practice with.

Maybe later.  Got catchin' up to do.  Plus about 50 million bugs to clean off my car!

A teaser:  On our very first calling sequence, I had a 5x5 come into me from the wrong direction.  I never even saw him as he stood 25 yards broadside to me.  Darren wanted to strangle me.  And on our very last calling sequence, I bugled a 4x4 into Darren but he came in straight at Darren and never offered a broadside shot.  I call them the Bookend Bulls  :)

John,

Thanks dude,,,, I'll do my best to make you proud.

I've been working up my hunting arrows and looks like I'm going get what I was hoping for, 32.5% UEFOC arrows tipped with 190 griz. Did my final bareshafting today and everyone of them are flying dang near as good as fletched arrows. Fletched acouple to double check and almost robinhooded my first shot with the second at 30 yds. Once I finish the fletching it's on to sharping broadheads.

I'll touch base with you afew days before the hunt.

Troy
