Bow: Thunderhorn Coup Stick 56# @ 28"

Arrow: Gold Tip Traditional cut to 29" w/ 4 inch right helical feathers.

Point: 170 gr. Zwickey Delta 2 Blade backed up with a 100 gr. brass insert.

Total Weight: 557 Gr.

My ideal shot range is 15 yards, and I am not 100% comfortable taking a shot at a deer past that. I would probably take a 20 yard shot if I was on the ground. Will NOT take a shot farther than that.

Working on my shoulder...the goal is a 1962 45# Bear Grizzly with snake skins, wood arrows and a Bear Greenie up front at about 550gr all totaled out.

I have a few back up plans at 40-43#.  With those I would likely settle on GT 3555's with what ever weight works best with that particular bow.  Either a Bear Greenie or a Simmons Land Shark.

Haven't figured it out totally, but it looks something like this;

-Chapperal Kaibab longbow. 62 pound draw weight.
-Hickory and Laminated Birch arrow shafts. Fletched with 4, 5-inch shield feathers. Don't know the total weight as I haven't gotten the shafts yet, but history says they shouldn't be less than 800-grains. Hoping for 850+.
-160-grain Snuffers and Woodsman Elites.

60" Quinn recurve drawing 58@31.
XX78 2117 with a Zwickey Delta 170gr, total 620gr.
15 yards is ideal range for me, 20 feels like a good max.

Think I've decided on the set-up below, & if the shot feels good I'll take it.

#1:  Bear Kodiak Hunter, 45# @ 28" with 31" Hunter Gold Tip Traditionals with 5" of weight tube in the front and Bear Razorheads totaling 500 grains.  Under 25 yards from a stand or under 20 yards from the ground (for some reason, I shoot better from the stand than from the ground.  Unsure why, although I do practice up there a lot).

#2:  Owl sinew backed white oak hunting bow, 52# @ 28" with 28" Sitka Spruce shafts and 200 grain Ace broadheads totaling...oh, I dunno...enough.  Ideal range under 15 yards stand or 10 yards on the ground.  Neither range is a problem here.  Often can't see further than that anyway.

#s 3, 4, and 5...Assorted selfbows and backed bows of dubious to neferous quality.  Ideal range, undetermined.  Check back again closer to the season.        :D

A 56" Bighorn, 48#s slinging a 556 grain CE Heritage with greenie Razorheads with 100 grain steel inserts.  I'm good to 30 yards or so, depending on how comfortable my stance is.  I like them about 18yards with me 18' up in the tree

You can see most of what I'll be using in my signature. As for the rest:

A 1" wide, 3 blade Muzzy 75 grain broadhead. The fletching consists of 3, 5" right wing Gateway parabolic feathers with eleven degrees of right helical twist.

I'll be looking for a 12-15 yard broadside lung shot shooting from a ground blind.

This year, it is a 45# Martin Saber
500 (2016) 30" Gamegetters = total 483 gr.
(with head)   29" draw
125 snuffer - screw in
or 125 Ace with glue in alum. adaptor
20 yards and under
Did harvest a nice buck many years ago, standing in the field at a little over 30 yards, walked (wobbled) about 10 feet and dropped dead.

60" Bruin Woodsmaster 45# @ 28" that I draw to 32". 33" Carbon Express Maxima 250's with 125 gr. Woodsman originals mounted on 125 gr. steel broadhead adapters. Makes for a silent bow and arrows that slide right through whitetails.
