Actually, I'm thinking that's the end you would WANT to be bloody! As in 'pass-thru'.

A friend gave me some 80/85 Sweetland Forgewoods shafts. I thought about making them into some arrows for myself...but it being Christmas, I surprised him and made them up and gave them back to him. I told him I had something for him. He responded, "a lump of coal?".  I told him he must have been a pretty good boy this year. Sure is better to give than to receive.

I switched to True North paints and clear dip. It's nice stuff with bright colors. I need to order some other colors.
For some reason I only make 3 at a time! Not sure why. These three turned out looking like boy scouts. The stain is alcohol based golden pecan. It makes a fiery look to the grain.

I was showing this thread to my son tonight, he was blown away at some of the craftsmanship. I am now getting the itch to build up another dozen cedars. This is so addicting!

While shooting with some friends we discussed which color showed up best in our AZ. desert. White was thrown around and with the brighter feathers coming from True flite I made a few. These shafts were the extreme weight wise, lighter to heaviest out of 50 old Acmes. I added weight to the tips using the gizmo from 3Rivers. Simple but they really show up.

Some new ones from Snag. I need to decide on the broadhead but otherwise all ready to go!

The timing in this thread being brought back is perfect. I just ordered some Surewood shafts. I can only hope my efforts will be half as good as what I've seen here, but 27 pages of great ideas, and beautiful arrows. Wow...fantastic thread !

Yes indeed, many ideas on techniques, color schemes, etc. Just take your time and buy the best materials, tools you can afford. If your a DYI guy who makes his own tools, jigs, etc. it adds to the satisfaction of making your own.

Hobow, those arrows are outstanding works of art and your giving them to the man who got you started is even better... now make some for yourself and get a critter with them, you have talent....
