Yup, I have to agree and speed is about 4th. on my list anyway of what I like in a bow. #1 is how it shoots and points for me and #2 Quiet!!! Shawn

Alright guys here are the results. I shot both the RER and my zipper recurve with both the longbow and the recurve limbs. All were shot using the same 394gr arrows. Here are the specs,
Zipper recurve: 50#@29" 62" avg. 197fps
Zipper Longbow: 52#@29" 62" avg. 199fps
RER recurve: 52#@29" 60" avg. 201fps
Also just for a change i also shot a 450gr arrow and every bow lost 5 fps. All the bows shot real well i thought and the speed was pretty much what i figured it would be. I thought the speed was good considering both bows were whisper quiet with the light arrows.

Interesting-I thought the RER would be considerably faster than the zipper. Was the zipper the standard riser or the extreme? Also, have you shot any other bows at the same specs for further comparison and what was your brace hieght on the zipper vs the RER.
Interesting stuff.

That follows suit with my Zipper Extreme Chad...4lbs heavier and one inch less in draw and I get mid/high 190's...197ish. Mine is braced right at 6.5"...great shooter.
That said...I've owned a few RER's and still have an Arroyo...great bows. I want to put my 54" Arroyo thru a chrono...she seems extremley quick.

BD, the zipper is an extreme riser.
When measuring the brace from the throat of the grip, both were braced at 7 3/8" on the recurves and the longbow limbs were at 7 1/2".

I have to second what Brian said as far as the Arroyo, they smoke. Kevin(RER bows) told me mine was the first out of the form and for some reason was quicker than the ones that came after it. Chad were the limbs you shot made for the extreme riser or did they come from a standard riser? Shawn

My bow was one i ordered and both set of limbs have book matched veneers. I don't think that it would make much difference. The longbow limbs all come off the same form. Bill just weighs the limbs on a standard riser and marks them and then adds 3 pounds and writes that on the other side for the extreme.

Interesting, Chad...thanks.
I think my old Zipper without fastflight will still meet my deer hunting needs.

The limbs Bob made were always marked with the weight of what ever riser they were made for. Bill has been putting the weight on the for both risers. It will say the weight and ext. for the extreme on one side and the std weight on the other.
You do gain 3 pounds on the extreme riser. Since i ordered mine with both sets of limbs they are marked for the extreme only!

No plans to send it down the road anytime soon! Now if it shot 170fps that would be different. But as it stands they shoot so close i would se no reason to pick one over the other.

Well in that case we'll get them together for our October deer hunt weekend. Your 60"49@28 and my 58" 49@28. Arrows of course will be interchangable since I'll be shooting my Excel 500s and 125 grain Simmons.

I didn't think the RER would be any faster than your Zipper....It's great to have a few bows that shoot so similar.

Robert, Chad should be along soon(maybe tonight). But I know he hunts with those weights and gets goot penetration with thin diameter carbons and Snuffers.
Check out the highlight 2006 and 2007 forums...the boy gets it done!

I've seen some threads, Curt...he doesn't always hunt with those weights, sometimes he goes a bit lighter
He sure does get it done.

Yep, I've seen some of his deer posted here. He's hard on'em.I've always shot around 525grs,but Ihave a new bow comin,52@29". I have some 3000 Vapors that'll come in about 420grs.Just wonderin what he thinks of that since I've never shot an animal with lighter than 500grs and he's shootin about the same poundage.

Sorry guys for not getting back sooner. An abscessed tooth has had me on the shelf the last couple days.
Robert, Yes i do hunt with those weights and have no trouble at all with penetration. My buck last fall was taken at 12 yards and the arrow hit the shoulder blade on entry and was hanging out the exit hole by the feathers and fell out when he made one jump. My snow doe was taken at about the same range and the arrow was 10-15 yards on the opposite side of her stuck in the ground. Now i wouldn't go that light with wood but with carbon they will passthrough more times than not.
