Hyalite Lake, a short distance from Bozeman, right at dusk is the place to be this time of year for fly fishing - while it can be done from shore a canoe or other flotation device may be helpful....

Shoot straight, Shinken

Big Ed. That is fantastic I loved Bozman!!!! If you can the Gallatin river is tremendous.  Not too far away. Want to get back there and hunt someday. Had elk bugling all over the place. Have a safe and great trip.

Going to be just west of you during that time period Bro, if the schedule wasn't so tight I'd definetly hook-up with you. Fly fishing is my other passion.

Ed....look me up.  I'm in Livingston, just 20 miles east.  My place is on the Yellowstone and you can fish right out back.   We'll put a couple steaks on the grill and "shoot the bull" if you want.   Perhaps I can even get Doug Campbell, and Walt Francis to come on over.   Of course it will be antelope season here, but we'll play it by ear.

Ed,

I would love to come join you up there and shoot a BULL! Elk or moose??     :D

You should definitely take Mark up on his offer. He is a great guy. I met him at the Reno Safari Club Convention while he was helping out famous wildlife artist John Banovich (another one of the good ones). I would like to go up there just to get together with Mark, Doug and Walt. What a terrific trio!

Glad to hear your hand is doing better. I have been thinking of you and praying for your recovery. I'm sure that next year will find you flinging arrows at some big bull.

Flyfishing is one of my favorite activities too. There is a lot of similarity between hunting fish with traditional fishing gear and hunting fish and game with traditional archery gear, at least in my mind. The bending of a rod or a bow limb and the casting of a fly or an arrow both make me feel like a part of nature. Enjoy your trip and definitely "shoot the bull". Shoot one for me too.      :campfire:

Hey Ed, My dance card doesn't open up until the 31st,(I was going to hike/scout that day, opener in WY is the 1st), but, looks like you'll be leaving the 30th, but, should you change your itinerary, and twist my arm ever so slightly, I could be convinced it would be a good day to go fishin...

I wish I could horn-in on your invite from Mark!!

My wife ,daughter and I are driving a trailer load of stuff to Libby, MT for a friend that just moved there, leaving NJ on the 20th. Spend a few days there, Gonna get some Kootenai River time in there, what a beauty of a river. Then the 25th going to Missoula so my daughter can check out UM for possible graduate studies. Then it's down to Jackson, WY where son/brother lives, have some family time. Then wife and daughter fly outta there on the 30th, whew, makes me tired thinking about it.

But, there's always next year,... and, I do most of my angling back here in PA
