dalaa questions
« on: August 08, 2011, 08:06:00 PM »
im thinking of getting a 3 rivers dalaa and was wondering if anyone has shot vanes out of these with an elevated rest? is there enough height from the plunger hole to the shelf to give them enough clearance as there is that bump on the shelf i am worried about.

If you're gonna shoot off of the shelf you'll be using that "bump" as a rest. If you use an elevated rest & plunger combo it will not interfere at all.

Cool so are you saying that bump is removable or is the hole for the elevated rest high enough from the rest so it will clear the bump with vanes?

The plunger hole is elevated... the bump is permanent unless you want to grind it off.

I have a friend that had one and he  did  have interference with the bump, especially with Blazer vanes.

Cheers mate I would be using standard 4" vanes as they are a little narrower than the blazers. But bye the sound of it, it may still be a problem.

My question to you would be this.  If you are planning to shoot off an elevated rest, why choose a riser that has a bump at all when there are others available without them?  There is no chance of interference with the bump if it isn't there.

g'day

I don't own one but have shot a few. I did not see any issues shooting 3 or 4" vanes off an elevated rest. My 17" Sky also has a bump on the shelf. I shoot 3" AAE Elite vanes off a rest for hunting with no clearance issues. I shoot cock vane in and slightly down as I do with all the trad bows I have owned.

I heard that Trad Tech is coming out with a removable radiused shelf for their Titan risers.  For the people that want to shoot off the shelf, you simply install it and use a regular rug and sideplate.  If you want to shoot off a rest, you remove it and there is no chance of it getting in the way.

That might be a consideration for you.
