TRADGANG FUN SHOOT WEEK 11
« on: August 08, 2011, 10:52:00 PM »
OK folks, don't kill the messenger!  canshooter PM'd me thusly (and he says we can shoot some practice rounds first):

"Not sure if you got my message, I am crazy busy, my youngest daughter is getting married this weekend! I suggested the following:

1 shot at 10 yards or paces,
1 shot at 15 yards or paces,
2 shots at 20 yards or paces,

Anything in the 4 ring counts as a negative against your total. *brettwilm says "holy moly"*

How does this sound to you?

Ted"

(brettwilm steels himself for a negative score...thank god it didn't say, plate misses are negative).

It is "what it is" the way I see it.

I never read anything about any practice shots.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thank you!

OK I'd better post.  This is canshooter's scenario and also his daughter getting married.  Canshooter says "practice rounds" so practice rounds are a go!  I'm editing my first post.
Good shooting folks,
Brett

Alrighty, here's mine.  Forgive the old target.  I ran out of plates and dug this one out of the trash barrel. These were the first 4 shots at the target, but I did warm up a by launching a few arrows out in the field behind the house.

10yds: 8
15yds: 10
20yds: 8
20yds: 6
Total: 32

Whew! I was sweating the -4 ring.

Some days it's better to be lucky than good. 10 yard shot = line cutting 10. 15 yard shot = 8. First 20 yard shot = 8. Second 20 yard shot = line cutting 6. 32 for me this week.

Here's my target for week 11.  22 pts

Here's my target for week 4.  I actually shot 4 arrows instead of three, but number my arrow placement.  Shot 1 was a 4x2, shot 2 was a MISS, and shot 3 was a 8 for a grand total of 16.

I'm going to shoot/post tonight.  Tonight should be great later--I'm finishing a dozen cedar shafts I've already prepped.  They are weight- and spine-matched and straight!  Field points until I get comfortable with them, and then fall archery-only deer season   :bigsmyl:

10= quarter size
8= 3" ring
6= 5 1/4 ring
4= the rest of the nine inch plate

You can go back and shoot all of them to get caught up.  Remember that the spirit and idea of this is to simulate hunting shots. Most of us warm up a little, unless a contest specifically says not to, then shoot a group. The weekly contests end on Saturday, and the winner picks the shots for the next week.  I think this contest is going to end on week 12, but we'll probably start a new contest with the next week.  Good luck.

Um...in a stunning case of prediction becoming reality, I got a -6.  I DID hit the plate each time! :dunno:
