well it started out months ago my frieng and i tried to make a bow, well the 1st one gone. 2nd gone. 3rd a little closer got it strung and then it broke. but the 4th time thats the one. i got strung anchored and it didnt break! the thing is just made from a maple sapling, its literally a stick and string. a true bow. this is what robin hood had. the damn thing only took a few hours to make and im still on the path to finishing it out completly. but i have big hopes for it. i plan on taking it to the bow shoot this in guernsey county this weekend, man ihope it shoots half decent.  :bigsmyl:

How about some real bow specs? Maybe you could tell some of the problems you had w/first 3 & corrections? Thanks

I can wholeheartedly recommend two things if you wish to make sticks with strings that will hold together and fling arrows with authority.

One hang out over on the bowyers Bench forum and secondly, if you do not own a copy of the "Traditional Bowyers Bible", buy or borrow a copy for yourself as a reference.

I know you can do it Cody!

If someone with my talent or lack of could do it, then so can you!

Cody,

Hang in there, you'll get better with each one you build. I agree with MUDD, hang out at the Bowyers bench and ask a lot of questions.
Relax,

You'll live longer!

thanks for the tips, and the what went wrong with the 1-3 is, 1 everything went wrong,2 a string got on it but it was a shorter bow and it snapped in the middle, 3 when i was making the bow tips shaving them down to a point the split.
