Brace Height / Smoothness 57 Kodiak

Will incorrect brace height make a bow harder to draw ? I picked up a 1957 64" 49# Kodiak at Denton Hill. From what I've been told 7 1/4 - 7 1/2 Also getting some arm slap but didn't go past the 7 1/2.

I don't know about harder to draw but it sure makes it harder to shoot. Try 7 3/4". That is pretty typical for older Bear bows. If I remember correctly you can go from 7 1/2" to 8 1/2". The higher brace height will keep the string from hitting your arm. When you get to the right brace height, the bow will really quiet down. A 1916 or 2016 aluminum arrow will make it shoot like glass.
