T minus30 and counting til Idaho elk
« on: August 12, 2011, 06:53:00 PM »
This year we are headed to Idaho again for elk.  Sadly ol' Trashwood is not able to go but we have a newby in camp with John Havard.  Should be a hoot.  We've hunted a couple time with John in Alaska for moose.  They were spartan fly in camps. . well spartan for me anyway.  John is going to have a cow when he sees the tent, kitchen, shower, head and other nicetys we have in elk camp. . .LOL

Well today we make the beer for camp evenings.  A nice version of our Canoe Sex Honey Ale should do.

Good luck to you all!  I might trade an elk hunt for some of that beer though by the sound of it  :D

Jake,

We need to talk.  With the wolf population growing in Idaho and the cost of diesel, we are looking to move our annual hunt to Colorado.  With another Alaska adventure planned next year, we will have a couple years to scout and study.  Going to use the time to find a good place to chase elk.

I'm envious of Elk Season.
Someday I will head west for a Elk hunt.
A world of opportunities awaits upwind but nothing waits downwind.

White Oaks, every hunter needs to experience the scream of an Elk at first light and all the craziness that usually follows.Very exciting and quite addicting!

I agree,
Everyone says its like hunting 1200 lb Gobblers in the spring. Someday.
I have a friend that will be retiring in Idaho in the next year and has invited me out as long as I stock the freezer. Hope it works out.
