Help with Arrow selection

Selway Lil' Magnum - 51#@27
This is my first Traditional bow.
I'm pretty sure I want to go with Carbon at least for now. I'm just not really sure where to start. I've gotten some help from my Dad who has been shooting a longbow for a while but it's still rather confusing to me.
I'm under the impression that I will need to try a few different spines in order to find what fits best for my bow/shooter combo. I'm just not really sure where to start.
I shoot Carbon Express and Gold Tip with my compound but they are a lot lighter than what I will be shooting with this longbow.
I appreciate any information you can give,
Thanks.

ochoco,
Congrats on your first bow.
Three rivers sales a CE test kit with a couple 90, 150, 250 and 350s. This test kit runs about $30. This kit and a screw in point test kit with various weights would help you dial in. Without knowing what weight point you plan to shoot I would probably suggest a CE 90 or 150.

I always pick the broadhead I want to shoot and a general arrow weight. Then work backward from there.

I am pertty close to your draw length and poundage with one of my bows. CE heritage 150 with 100 grain inserts work for me. You can fine tune by experimenting with your shaft length.

I would say a heritage 150 cut to 29"s or so with 225 or a tad more up front. If ya go with a true 500 spine than you may get away with a 28" arrow with 225 up front. The 150s are a bit stiffer than a .500 spine, like .487 I beleive. Shawn
