I'm still pretty new to everything (picked up my first bow about 7 months ago) but holy cow I didn't know what I was missing with heavier arrows. Got ahold of some GT 75/95 trad shafts and after messing around with Stu's calculator (thanks much Stu!)I set them up like so:
145gr tip (going to be using 150gr woodsmans when hunting)
5gr brass washer
100gr brass insert
32" long with 5" parabolic feathers
Total weight is 657 grains.
Shafts came in the mail yesterday and I got one set up today and holy smokes what a difference! I'm shooting them out of a 60" 52@28 Black Creek bow and man o man I didn't know what I was missing, they really thump and penetrate the backyard target. Many thanks to you all, I can't wait to take these on my first hunt, now to just fletch up the rest and get some solid practicing with them under my belt within the next couple of weeks before my local WMA opens up
Thanks again to everyone here, don't think I would have went so heavy without yahs
