KANSAS QUESTIONS,
« on: August 17, 2011, 11:52:00 AM »
a good day just got better!
I just drew a special permit for a wildlife refuge in Michigan,
I called A friend that I guided in Montana in the late 90's and he drew the same tag, then he invites me to hunt Kansas with him.
Mound city area. I am looking for tag info, the website for the DNR is down. Anybody have suggestions? Any and all help will work.
Thanks

Bruce (Smoke1953) and I drew units 7 & 4 - North Central part of the state.  It will be our first time hunting Kansas and looking forward to it!

Our November schedule is full, so we are planning mid-Dec.  May also try to get down there in Oct. as well.

Lil Red, We were actually planning on hunting after the rifle season ends - in mid Dec.  I know it would be better in Nov., but that just won't work for us this year.  From what I have heard the late season can be good at times.  Hunting pressure during gun season will sure have an impact though.

Whip, It's usually pretty cold and deer movement highly nocturnal after the GUN season. Really puts the "SPOOK" on the deer! Late October or November right up to Thanksgiving is the best time to me.
If you come after gun season it could be bitter cold and tough hunting with lots of tracks, but very little deer movement.
It's always fun to get out though, so come when the opportunity is there!
