walk in the woods (pic)
« on: August 17, 2011, 12:03:00 PM »
not sure if this is okay to post this here, but I thought this a cool picture to share with everyone.

I was out for a walk in a hunting spot with a fellow T-Ganger when we found this guy. he was really cool, and very unhappy with us being in his home.  he would make an awesome limb, but he belongs in the rocks, so that is where he stayed.

I probably would have made that a kabob. the snakes in my woods are small and harmless. In fact it has been about 10 years since I have seen even a garter snake!

im sorry but , its hide would have been stretched out on some ply wood in an hour after crossing his path. i love nature, as much as anyone. all creatures are meant for management. it would live a lifetime on the back of a well made selfbow. rv

That skin would look really good on a set of limbs.

I have a respect for copperheads.  I shinnied between a little stump that had been pulled up and laying on the ground and the airconditioning unit twice in a day when the rottweiler got under the house and knocked the duct off the unit.  I was laying next to the little stump and stuck the duct back on and duct taped it.  That afternoon the dog knocked it off again.  This time I squeezed in and drilled and screwed the duct and then taped it.  As I crawfished back out I scraped my back on one of the roots sticking out.  It chapped me so I grabbed it and went to pick it up and give it a sling.  Under it was a two foot copper head.  I felt the scrape on my back and thought I was snake bit but it was just a scrape.  In the fear of the moment I slew him with a stick.  When I found out I wasn't bitten I felt kind of ashamed. I killed him when he had two clear shots at me and spared me.  The Lord had my angel watching out for me no doubt but then He made the wildlife we come in contact with with an attitude to not hurt us most of the time if they can help it.  I'm still a killer like everyone else but the older I get the less indiscriminate I get.  Sure is a beautiful snake that would look good on a bow but letting him go is way cool too.

So cool letting him go.  I used it as my screensaver.  We don't see many here in PA.

Pretty snake. Would look cool on a bow but looks cool in the woods also.
