Qustion about film dipping bows?
« on: August 20, 2011, 03:08:00 AM »
I was wondering what the process is like to film dip a bow? Do they sand the whole bow down and than dip the bow. Just wondering I might get a bow dipped and was just curious

The entire bow is usually lightly sanded so the base color will adhere properly, then comes the base coat of color, then the film dip and after cleaning of the residue and after it dries a protective clear coat is applied.

What about in the case of the original finish having been compromised? Since it is being dipped in water I would think you would need to do some preliminary work first right?

The base color is painted on the entire bow before it get dipped, so there is no exposed wood to get wet.
