Early Christmas shoppers?
I'd jump in there and get some deals, Bob!

Unfortunately I think the economy is still in the tank and with the crowd in DC still not taking it seriously I doubt it's doing much for consumer confidence.

When you having a sale Bob ?    ;)

Yep, every one trying to entice  a few pennies out where they can. Good if you can take advantage of it, but mostly sad if you need it and can't make a sale. So many great bows and equipment out there.

Mark, I still have not got the limbs pic on site yet.....Maybe tomorrow   :)   It's the economy. Killy, You know I would give YOU the best deal I can.But if it costs me more than the price to do it, You don't want that, and I can't... We are not having a sale.... I might have a cook out, with limbs risers and LB as fuel for the hot dogs.... the IRS can not get FET on a cook out fuel.....

Don't you dare barbecue them, Bob.
They have a great shelf life, and times will get better. I will send you some charcoal briquets.

If I actually manage to kill something this year, I'll send you some steaks, too!

Labor Day is notorious for sales and marks the beginning of preparation of hunters that get ready at the last minute.

Unfortunately, according to shadowstats.com the real unemployment rate by pre 1994 standards is about 23%... Lots of folks are just trying to make it through these tough times! That effects lots of things! Lots of businesses... Especially the small family business 's (which includes most in Trad Archery)

I doubt these sales are to fund extravagances, but to try and keep the lights on, the doors open, and just get by, while hoping and waiting for things to turn around...

So try and buy local and support the good folks who you count on for their goods or services... or in the future you just may be buying online from some big box store that will also want to sell you golf clubs and jock straps... The bean counters and executives at these stores will turn the industry into  more made in china disposable crap instead of the personalized customer service that goes the extra mile the small guy goes to earn your business and meet your desires...

Bob, As nice as your bows are , full price is a sale price as far as I am concerned. When I see a lot of bowyers cutting prices and acting desperate I pray for them. Times are tough and I understand.
God bless you all, Steve

I see this as "price adjustments" reflecting the overall economy and certainly was expected to happen. Why would this sector be immune. The whole concept of a used bow getting 80% of its initial costs is a fading reality that is going to be adjusted as well. Frankly I am surprised it has remained in the used market for as long as it has. We are all going to have to ride this out.

Tom, A lot of the price adjustments I see are in the wrong direction... Everything I need to build bow is going up. wood, glue, finish, fiberglass, carbon. Everything..... I do discount stock that has been laying around for over 2 years, usually heavy poundage...

A couple of things are going on as I see it.

First off the economy and job market sucks.

Now with that out of the way, most of the work producing these gorgeous bows are lightyears ahead of what was being made in the 60's. Bows were less exotic for the most part. So the cost to produce a sexy bow these days is a significant factor.

Most of us probably have too many bows. I doubt if we were having this discussion twenty years ago, most would probably have half as much.

What I am afraid of as a consumer is the product quality that I have expected to decrease as well. Something has to give.
