I bought a used Mahaska longbow with the Connexion hinge. I was leary about the hinge idea, thinking I might feel some flex at the string rebound. Notta - nothing. It folds as easy as can be and is rock solid once strung. Since it's only on the back of the grip, the belly side is wide open to interpretation. Several bowyers use it. I love it.

awbowman- PV builds some VERY nice bows and I suspect this is one of his own designs. Didn't want to butt in, but I didn't know if he would see your question.  I'd suggest PMing him if you want to know more...

That system that Big Jim uses is just the ticket. You can have a beavertail grip on his bow and never know its a take down.

Take town Thunderchild is on my list later on when i get to shoot one.

I hate to sound like a broken record...

But the Black Widow 2-piece longbow is a tremendous bow.  Pretty pricey, but they are very well-made, dependable, consistent bows.  I have one that I bought new in the spring of 2011, and I like it more -- literally -- every day I shoot it.  I can't imagine getting rid of it.  I can imagine toying with other bows someday, but always want to keep this one.  I have shot a bunch of different bows, too, so have a lot to compare it to.

Here's a link to a video I posted on YouTube.  Just posted for fun, but you'll get to see this fine bow that BW made for me.  It has spalted sycamore veneers, and a cocobolo nose (instead of red phenolic) on the back.

Black Widow uses the carbon-fiber sleeve take-down system, and it's easy to take apart and put together, no tools.

P.S.  I should mention right off the bat that I know I'm not the world's greatest shooter!

Carbon Sleeve X many. I've had one and think it's the best system out there. I like my MOAB with the hinge , but they nice thing about the Carbon sleeve is it's fast and you can't tell it's a two piece once together.
I'd consider the Big Jim Buffalo, it's R/D but not radical.

Another vote for BamaBows. Nate's bows are serious shooters and his carbon sleeve is perfect.

Big Jim's Thunderchild t/d is absolutely seamless. No one would know it is a t/d unless you showed them how it is put together. Very sweet.
