Kentucky Hunters...Hot, Hot, Hot!!!!
«
on:
September 02, 2011, 09:11:00 PM »
For the first time in more years than I can remember I'm not going out on opening day :(
To put it bluntly, it's just to hot! It's supposed to be 98 degrees here tomorrow. The good news is Monday, the weatherman is calling for a high of 76. That's more in my line of temperature for this time of year!!
Anybody going to give it a try tomorrow?

I'm gonna brave the heat....call me crazy, but I've been running cams and have a couple nice bucks pinned down as to where they are entering the beans. Not gonna pass up the chance as that velvet will be gone w/in days.
Hope to be posting pics of one of the 2 big 10's if I'm lucky. Only good thing about this heat is I can bet on a goos S wind.

Well, I ended up not going, but my brother went and shot a doe at 7:00am. He was out of the woods by 9:00am. He saw 8 bucks, 3 of which are excellent bucks(I have pictures of them on my trailcams) all were within 40 yds of him.
All in all, a great day! I'm kicking myself in the buttocks for not getting my big butt in a stand this morning!!!

Our season doesn't open until October 1, weather should be cooler by then. It's been 100+ the past two days, 98 today, but only 77 tomorrow and 71 Monday. Gonna be a nice Labor Day, with a break from the heat.

Its going to be bad this afternoon but maybe it will be worth it! Monday will be better hopefully! I hope it don't change movement that bad. One thing the dry weather has done for us is low acorn numbers and some even dropping early. Maybe the deer wont run to the national park on me! LOL

I stayed at the house, 87 at 7am is way too hot. It's to hot to do anything outside right now. Hope the weatherman is right about sunday afternoon and monday morning with a little rain and cooler temps, I will be out in the rain but this heat is just too much.

I had to work today anyway.
Heck, I don't get real excited until later this month and then I start getting really fired up in October. Plus, I don't like to get my best areas stunk up and wore out before it gets good later.

85 here today. Season doesn't open until October here though. Did go do some scouting for a place to hunt that is still accessible today though. The 400,000 acre Green Mountain National Forest is closed because of the damage done by Irene and a lot of places I hunt don't have ways in to them right now.

Well, I'm glad to finally say our really hot weather ended today. This summer in Tyler we shattered every record on the books. All said and done since Memorial Day we had 77 days 100 degrees plus and 27 days 105 degrees plus! No rain since July 4th. Our season starts first weekend in October.I am hoping for cooler weather and some rain.

Just got back. When I left the truck the thermometer was on 100. Wow it was brutal. Deer laying low.
I think I need to put two drain holes in the bottom of my knee high rubber boots.
Was good to be back in the tree.
Good luck all.
