New guy to Trad and site intro
« on: September 06, 2011, 01:23:00 PM »
Hi yall. I guess I should tell a little about myself since yall will be seeing alot of me in the future! I am 30 and am married with an 8 month old daughter. I live in north central MS but am from south central LA.

I have about 10 years in the military active and guard. I just got back from Iraq about 2-3 weeks ago and that trip is what sparked my interest in bow hunting. The original thought was to have a weapon I could always carry when I traveled to take advantage of hunting opportunities. I was thinking about getting a compound bow but already owned an old recurve from the 70s.

I asked if anyone hunted with a recurve on a hunting site I frequent. I was turned on to trad archery and this site by stringwacker that I met on MS bull nettler site about 2 weeks ago. I am not sure if he is on here or what he goes by. Great guy and he set me well on my way with trad archery!

I had no idea how much I would enjoy shooting my recurve and am thoroughly looking forward to bow season on oct 1st. I have been thoroughly devouring this site in the last 2 weeks although I have hardly posted. This is a great place and I look forward to getting to know everyone more!    :archer:    :archer:

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. TGMM ♥

Hey thanks guys! I cant wait for bow season here in 24 days! I am still trying to get the just of it all, but dont plan on waiting to hunt! I actually have a bear/deer hunt in North Georgia at the end of Oct and am hoping I feel confident enough with my bow to take it.
