Hope From the Flood Waters

Here in SE Ks and the surrounding area we have had one of the worst floods in over 50 years.  Many areas are still under water and the damage is excessive.  While surveying some of the damage to our work place I found a pleasing sight and it shows the wonders of God's power.  Like every hunter I am wondering what impact this will have on the coming season.

Here is a shot of just one of our transformer yards.  This is minor damage compared to other areas.
 

 

While surveying damage I found these waifs hiding in the grass just to the left of the fence in the above picture.  Just two days earlier this area was under 12 feet of water and the nearest dry ground was over 1 1/2 miles away.
 

 

 

When we drove back to the main plant area we saw another doe and fawn just outside the fence.  The game animals have already started moving back into the area.

Amazing how fast stuff we take for granted can change....my wife and I learned that with a fire that started in our neighbors apartment.
Glad to see some positive aspects coming out of it. Keep it up and good luck. Oh and great pictures.

Great pics Dennis, those close ups are national geographic material. Sure wish some of that rain would come this way...we are 14" below normal for the year's rainfall.

The temptation to try and pet them was really hard to resist.  They were laying within 20 yards of the Neosho River just behind them.  The water level was almost halfway up on the upper fence you can see in the second picture.  Wasn't expecting to see them at all when I checked that gate for damage.

This flood was the highest level the Neosho River has reached since 1951.  It is amazing how a 200 feet wide ditch of water can become a 2 mile wide fast flowing lake.

The people of Coffeyville, Ks. really need our prayers now since the Verdigris River flooded the oil refinery there.  The damage from the oil spill will take months to clean up.  Here's a link to some pics of it.  Click the slideshow button.

Great pictures Dennis,Glad you are alright.That was alot of rain we got.We were camping at Pomona lake and watched the lake rise 10 feet in 36 hours.It will be a long clean up for them folks and alot of other towns to.Prayers sent!!

Good to hear you're staying dry. Coffeyville is going to be a mess for a while. Strangely we went over to Talequah & floated the Illinois River on Tuesday & it was just at a level to float. Great pics, my new wall paper too!
