New Trad Shooter!
« on: September 10, 2011, 08:08:00 PM »
I've been visiting this site for a short time and really like what I see, so I went and became a new member today. Glad to be here and hello to everyone! I'm finally going to put my compound down and give trad a try. I am enjoying shooting my Hoyt GM2, any members here shoot this bow?   :wavey:

Eric, glad to have you in the gang. Traditional archery is very challenging but also very rewarding. I switched about 17 years ago and never had a regret.
I have never shot a GM2 but I have heard good things about them. Good luck in your endeavors!

Welcome. You're at the best place you can be if just starting to shoot a stickbow. A lot of helpful and friendly people here.

The only one I recall shooting the Hoyt GM2 is Lord Voldemort.

Welcome to the fire of comraderie and the remarkable traditional journey that may take you beyond imagination.

Welcome    :wavey:    :archer2:
Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. TGMM ♥

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.

I have a hoyt game master but I think its the earlier model. Love the bow though, im new as well but. I've been loving every second of it. Sitting here at 1am and all I can think about is how I only wanted to go after small game but now im looking for white tail. I might wait a season to get in a good chunk of practice before making the leap. But im sure glad the trad fever is spreading.

Enjoy your stay, everyone here is SUPER friendly and helpful.

Welcome Sirius! I have an original Gamemaster and I still shoot it from time to tame having switched primarily to longbows.

The GM bow I have was a gift from a long time friend and archery mentor name JR Wright in Eden, NC. He passed away unexpectedly during hip surgery just a few weeks after he sent me the Hoyt GM. He sent me the bow in return for my taking him turkey hunting in GA. It was just another example of this gentleman's unselfish nature. JR owned an archery shop when I was still in high school and with a very small budget. After the bow my father gave me for my 16th birthday broke, JR set me up with a new Hoyt and told me to "pay me what you can when you can".

As you might imagine, my Gamemaster has special meaning to me and will always have a place in my bow rack!

Welcome to the trad community! I hope you find it as rewarding and enjoyable as I do!

Welcome Eric. If you're having fun you're doing it right. Plenty of good trad folks in Wisconsin.
