Type of string for HH bow
« on: September 10, 2011, 02:53:00 PM »
Just picked up a new to me HH Big Five. My question is: Would it be ok to use FF. It has no limb tip overlays but it does have the wedges. If it was approved for FF, I was thinking 16 strand TS1 with 20 strands on the loop ends. Any help would be greatly appreaciated. Thanks, Snakebite

snake,  Craig the times I've talked to him won't come right out and say yea or nay.  He will tell you that FF shortens the life of the bow and will recommend dacron.  To my knowledge he doesn't prohibit the use of FF but doesn't recommend it either.

Moe, Thanks for the info. I have went with my gut on this one and built a 14 strand B50 with .026 FF serving. Just got back in from shooting and what a bow. Should have tried a HH along time ago. Thanks again, Snake

Snake,I just recieved a new Tembo from Craig 2 weeks ago. When talking with him he stated that you can use FF even without the overlay tips. As a matter of fact he put a FF string on mine.

Thanks for the info cb.  It has been a while since my last "talk" with him about strings.  The Hill bows are H*** for stout and David Miller shipped me an Old Tom with both a Dacron and a FF string.

Use a Fastflite string, it'll be fine. I made the switch, and am enjoying the benefits.

Thank goodness, the B50 string was terriable. I like my FF, seems to take alot of the thump out of a bow. Thanks, Snake

I like B-50 on Hill bows.   :archer2:
