Thank you everyone for the well wishes this was a special hunt for sure one that will always be remembered. As for the pack out I will keep that part short. Being my first animal I didn't know what to do after it hit the ground. I ran down the hill and back to camp to get help from a dear friend who couldn't believe that I scored a big girl. Up the hill we went, I couldn't have done a decent job of getting all the meat and packing it out without loss of meat. It was hot out. We had the whole thing out by 3:50 AM and then I drove it to town to get it cooled down. She is at the butcher now and another weekend is almost upon us....I am writing Deer and Bear on my other arrows. Cheers

Great Treb , I just got back from Idaho and saw this post, way to go buddy, I just knew that arrow had elk all over it!.
You put a bunch of effort into putting that bow together for this hunt and stuck with it , I am proud to be a part of your quest and look forward to seeing many more.
Long shadow is a good name!

Ted,
How was the hunting at Gary's. Looking at Weippe weather, it looked hot last week.

Terry , will try to get a chance to call today , if not , tomorrow. Still hunting season and between that , work and salmon fishing, yeah I know life is a @#$%^ but man , why all at once? Gotta love September.
Rick , Gary is doing great , hunting was hot , dry and lots of fires in our area.
Lots of Wolves !
At 5:00 AM it would be 60 degrees at the top camp and 38 down low. Funny year, not even the huckleberry's are turning red yet.

Ted,
Heading out to Gary's on Monday - I hope the weather and wolves cooperate. I plan to buy a wolf license just in case.

Should be a good week Rick , things are cooling down a bit , even had some rain this AM here in Hood River, that is heading right to Kamiah.
This next week should be good, bears should be moving well with the cooler weather and maybe even the dust will get knocked down. New wolf tags are cheap , pick one up and remove a wolf for us!
Good Hunting
