So Many GORGEOUS Bows Out There......
« on: September 12, 2011, 06:05:00 PM »
Hey all,

I was just going through my PICS on my hard drive and checking out some of the threads posted here and I tell ya there are some unbelievable beautiful bows being made these days.  No one has a corner on them either.  It seems like just when I think that this bowyer or that bowyer makes the prettiest bows, someone else will come out with their new bow and it'll be just as nice.

The only thing that upsets me is that I don't have enough money to buy all of them.....

In fact I think I would have a very difficult time carrying some of these beauties into the woods.  Then again that's what they're made for.

I just wanted to comment on the quality and beauty of the bows being put out these days by all these artisans....

To me, the most beautiful bows are Black Widows.

But most of the bows posted in here are so pretty, I always reach for my purse, just to find that I will have to keep on my scratched old Ragim.  :D

But it's not always about the unscathed bows.
I wish I'd remember his name, but there's a guy on this board that has a green longbow. And you can see that the longbow is quite old , but it also is a part of many stories and that in itself is beauty to me as well.

What! They put their limbs on the wrong side of the riser, there is no way to make a pretty bow doing that and not to mention they use plywood for the most part....sorry couldn't help myself.
Blackwidows don't even make in the top 10 for me.

A bit harsh on the widow's, I have a bw in kingwood which is beautiful.

To each their own, I think all bows are beautiful, just some more than others.

Dont own one but if those acadian wood bows shoot as good as they look. OH MY LORD

This era reminds me of the craftsmanship that went into the late 60's early 70's target bows. Fantastic woods, overlays, serious artwork for sure.

I agree I just had to give him a little grief.
There are so many talented bowyers out there now days.

Edit:
If you own a Blackwidow and post about it on the internet you better have a sense of humor and some thick skin.

Yes, I also agree with Nala's topic. The craftsmanship and wood choices are something to behold in some of our bows.

One arrived in the mail today. It had a bacote handle, 4 lams of well-aged pacific yew for the limbs, and myrtle handle overlays. It was stunnng. All the woods complimented each other without one taking over.

With all the bows available, Its just a great smorgasbord.  I need more money. I think that I will keep trying to own them all anyway.

I could end all this right now if I could show you a picture of the bow Chad Francis is going to build me. Unfortunately, I won't know what it will look like until we talk next week. Yeah, I've spent a lot of time drooling over all the bows I've seen advertised. Can't buy them all, though, so I'll just settle for the one I'm getting.

Whichever feels the best, shoots the best, is quietest and performs the best for me is the most "gorgeous" in my view!   I kinda like the cleaner, simpler bows.

The most beautiful bow is the one that puts that arrow where I want it to go ...

Gorgeous bows are only as good as they shoot, and for me the most exotic I own is a Eaglewing Talon II, Sexy and best of all an arrow stacker.
