way to go guys...min this is awsome  :notworthy:

swp

Just got in for some lunch. Saw a bobcat, 2 does, a small buck walked by just outside of the "danger zone" and missed a turkey at about 20 yds (hit a branch and just grazed her). Going back out in a little bit.
I also got to watch a red tail hawk kill a ground squirrel at about 15 yds last night, pretty COOL!

Hang in there guys, only 8 more days and the orange army is out of the woods! I love the late season and cold weather, it's when I've had my best luck. So here in MO we have a lot more good hunting to look forward to!

RLA

And congrats SWP, pretty cool stuff!

i was sitting in a ground blind 70 yds. away from my treestand and had five bucks walk rite under my stand , and one was a real nice ten pointer,  so today i sit my stand and have two does rite in front of my ground blind,     cant catch a brake..

swp

And that is why they call it hunting!  :)  Hang in there A30 at least you are still seeing them.

Shot this doe at fellow Trad Gang Members Gatekeeper's place this Sunday.  Can't beat good hunting partners!

Life ain't a dress rehearsal.

Just out of curiosity what are the rest of you Missouri boys seeing as far as the rut?  Still going, over, or are the big boys still just getting started?  I'm not sure but it seems like things have picked up on the days the wind isn't blowing like crazy.

Chris, Congratulations on the doe! Wish it would have worked out that I could have been there to share the moment. Those times are too rare and need to be cherished. I love the picture! maybe you can Photoshop me into the picture.       :goldtooth:

Glad it's not just me. Bucks don't seem interested in doe bleat calls around here. Chris reported that the doe he shot didn't appear to be in heat or swollen.

Solunar tables predict 11/25 - 12/1 to be the "HOT" period. One table predicts 11/25 and 26 and another is predicting that 11/28 and 29 will be good days but 11/30 and 12/1 will be the days with the most action.

Here are a couple of sites to look at. You can adjust them for your location.

The first one shows what you can expect to see for the sun and moon. The other shows times that will have the most animal movement. I have also been referencing the Deer Hunter's Moon Guide and the Deer Hunter's Rut Guide.

I have been watching these times for the last few weeks and have asked a few of my buddies to text me when they see deer while hunting or when they shoot a deer. When you get a few guys reporting in, it can turn you in to a believer in this stuff pretty quickly.

Here is a sample from this past Sunday when Chris shoot his doe.

The moon time was 7:55 for us and at that time I saw the flick of a tail
and by 8:00 there was a doe with two fawns within 15 yards of me.
Somewhere between 8:00 and 8:30 Chris shot his doe and Brian, a friend
that is hunting Tiffany Springs with me, sent me a text to say he had
four deer under him and that he shot at a buck but missed. The doe that
was in front of me was two or three steps from bleeding, but I went
against my better judgment and set out a decoy to try and pull the deer
into my shooting lane. The doe didn't like the decoy, which is the
reaction I have always gotten from deer when using a decoy, so I'm an
idiot! I had it setup so she could see it well in advance, but there
seems to be a comfort zone that deer like to keep between themselves and
the decoy when there is a decoy in play and I must have set the decoy
too close to the shooting lane. She stayed about 15 yards from the
decoy.

Around 9:00 I could hear a buck rubbing a tree and started can calling
to him and saw him moving in my direction but not to me. At this same
time Chris had a buck working around him that jumped four does from
their beds and Brian sent me a text to tell me that he shot at a very
large buck. The buck I was working never came into my shooting lanes.
The closest he got was 20 - 25 yards with trash between us. He was nice!
Five minutes after that buck left, there was another nice buck that was
on the run and nothing would stop him. Chris continued to see deer
milling around the Osage Flat stand and then by 9:30 all deer movement
had stopped for everyone. It was pretty damn cool to be getting
conformation from others saying they were seeing action at the same time
I was and it all coincided with the moon time. The moon time was from
7:55 to 9:00.

Today Brian sent me a text to tell me he shot a doe this morning at 8:15 a half hour
before the moon time was to begin. Pretty cool!

I'm antsy to get back out there... I usually tag meat at some point in the early season but did not this year.   :help:

I'm finally going to get back out in the morning, can't wait!  This year has been almost all ground hunting, it's been a learning experiance. The first thing I've learnt is don't sit there lookin stupid & let them get to close!
The Rancho Safari shaggie has done it's part as far as hiding me, but!  Getting them in real close & then getting drawn has provin tuffer than I expected!
But I'm havin fun & that's what it's all about. I only have a small amount of private ground to hunt and I think I'll be tryin some public ground winter camping this winter. Not lugging a tree stand should make things  easier, now in SW MO where should I go??? The million dollar question
good luck to all & happy Thanksgiving

Hey A30. Where you huntin? Looks like a drained swamp or a cemetary. I'm an ole St Louis County guy....

hey John, its an island,on the missouri river thats all im gonna say.     :saywhat:  those are dry sloughs, some are so big they look like fields. and theres some dandy's runnin around on it. i seen 5 bucks and 12 does this eve.
