I got arrow problems!
« on: July 07, 2007, 01:53:00 PM »
I'm shooting a 45# Tomahawk Diamond SS 62", I recently bought some new 2016 full length shafts and after fletching up 3 and shooting the other 3 bare I find that they're too stiff of a shaft, even when I go from 125 points to 175 pionts.
Should I go to 1916? I was initially leaning towards 35/55 GT's with 100 grain inserts and 125 heads full length, but I don't want to drop another $40-$50 on arrows I possibly can't shoot well. Please advise as I'm driving myself crazy.  :help:    :banghead:    :banghead:    :banghead:

I shoot 2 longbows and 1 recurve in the 40 to 45 lb. range using 1816's cut to 28".  I have had excellent arrow flight and taken several deer with them.  I am not sure what your draw length is, I pull about 27".

What is your draw length?
What do you want your finished arrow to weigh?
What design and weight broadhead will you shoot?

I draw 28", I would like my finished arrow weight to be around 500 grains but it's not critical. I'm partial to 125 grain Muzzy 2 blade heads but have had some success with their 4 blades as well. I'd like to get these to about 29".
PICKINGRIN, what do those 1816's weigh? What kind of broadheads do you use?
Thanks for the help if I had longer hair I'd be pulling it out.

The 2016's may not be too bad, however I'd be shooting 1916's from a 45#r.

If you put the 2016's you have on the classifieds here, you'll get back 70 or so %

A 1916 will come in around 475 fletched, capped and with a 125 driving.

Lucky for me the 2016's work fine in my Grizzly, I think it'll shoot just about anything. I found some 1916 gamegetter II on Eagle Archery for $3.50 each, guess I'll have to order some tonight. Thanks for the help, any more would be appreciated.
