my turn at an elk thread...
« on: September 17, 2011, 06:05:00 PM »
finally drew my favorite area in Wyoming.  been since Clinton was the president.  3 other buddies drew as well and many friends came and hunted deer, spotted, and camped for fun.

the action was awesome the first couple days, bulls going nuts everywhere but the pressure started to get to em. i did manage to undershoot a nice 5 point on the 3rd (as i found out later, THANK GOD), but for the next week or so i didnt get close enough to anything bigger than a spike so didnt shoot.  finally came together last monday, the 12th.  the morning was absolutly crazy, elk going nuts. i called in a dandy bull to 6 steps but didnt even get a shot off!  left him alone but found him again that night and he wasnt so lucky this time. best of all, my dad was with me and we got to watch him go down!  what a thrill, usually the old man and i don't get to hunt together often enough.

Beautiful animal mate.

Beautiful bull! Congrats!
