Thinking about getting a 3 piece take down recurve, looking at Blacktails as I dont think ANYONE has not loved those bows. are limbs and risers interchangeable with different manufacturers? is there some common mounting system for them? if I got a 60" black creek and wanted to try someones longbow limbs from say a zipper bow on that riser is that possible? exactly what does ILF stand for anyway?

Limbs and risers from custom bowyers won't be interchangeable due the fact that there's different designs from bowyer to bowyer. The ILF bows I believe are interchangeable but I haven't researched them much so I'm not 100% sure on those,I can't even tell what ILF stands for

so just cause its a 3 piece take down does NOT mean it is an ILF bow?

Internation limb fitting. If you go with an ilf, limbs and risers will be interchangeable. I shoot a 15"Morrison riser with Dryad epic recurve limbs.

Only ILF bows are interchangeable. So a custom take down by a bowyer that isnt a ilf can not have different limbs put on it. However sometime the same bowyer has different models limbs that go on the same riser. Hope this helps.

What these guys said. Even the samne bowyer often doesn't interchange limbs, so you have to ask.
Ahhh yeah. Blacktails are "okay" guess..
