a cool encounter
«

I went out for a little while this morning to try an ambush a fat doe that I've seem a few times crossing a small creek, just a short walk from my house. This morning though she chose to be elsewhere
He was only about 25 feet from me and I don't think he saw me, but must have caught a scent or something, because he quickly turned an started back the way he came in. It happened so quick I could only turn slightly and slip off the chair coming to anchor as he stopped behind 2 small trees at about 20 yds! When he steps out,"pick a spot, release & follow through" I said to myself

Cool story mongoose. Another fine example of the hunt being more rewarding than the kill.

I have seen a lot of yotes but never a black one. That is really cool and I hope you get to see him again some day.

Thanks Guys, I had never seen a black one either and at first glance I thought "dog", but then I realized that it definitely was WAS a coyote and I had a really clear and closeup view

I saw one once, in the back of a pickup truck in southern Virginia. It looked a lot like my departed pup Sheba, only black instead of yellow. It struck me profoundly, as I laid my hand on its shoulder, and I had to go think on it, and smoke. Powerful spirit in there. No wonder there are so many Native stories about the Old Man.

Cool.
I saw a black 'yote about 6 or 7 years ago while I was on stand deer hunting. It was traveling with another 'yote that was regular color. I could have shot it, as I was gun hunting and it was very early on opening morning and I didn't want to spook anything that might be getting ready to step out of the brush. Now, I look back and kinda wish I had shot it. The black pelt would have looked great on our wall.
We had a 'yote in our back yard once about 15 feet from our door step. I'm not afraid of them but I don't want them that close to my home 'cause my kids have a few cats that they're very fond of.
