I was fortunate enough to bag this buck in November '05. I went out on an afternoon hunt after work. Within 20 minutes or so, I heard brush crackling off to my left and saw this 8 point was going to pass by me. I tried bleating at him a couple of times in hopes of getting him to stop, but he continued walking. He finally paused for a second giving me time to draw and shoot. The shot got his liver and angled forward a bit. The blood trail was poor, but persistence paid off and I found him!
I was using my Checkmate Firebird takedown (53#@28), 2016 arrows and Wensel Woodsman broadhead.
