Kuiu beanies
« on: September 28, 2011, 12:07:00 PM »
I'm not Michael Phelps, but my beanie fits like a swimmer's cap.  Any thought on this?  I don't have a huge head but I've donated it to my boys' hat collection and they are 3 and 6...but they do have big heads (lots of brains I tell them).

Hopefully mine is just an outlier.  Fabric and craftsmanship seem great though.

Thought mine was a little small too. The merino one. I have a pretty big noggin though.

I returned the guide hat as soon as I got it.  The other gear is awesome, but the material in that hat doesn't stretch enough.  I have a "regular" sized head of 7 1/4 and it made my head ache after wearing it for a few minutes.  No problem with the merino though.

I bought the Guide Beanie and the Merino Beanie and neither really fits well. After about 5 minutes my head feels like it's in a vice! I'll probably just give them to my kids to wear. They say one size fits most, but unless your head is the size of a grapefruit I can't imagine it. I sure wouldn't recommend either beanie on my experience.

I agree on the Guide beanie. I have a small head and it was so tight I ended up returning it

They fit a 7& 1/8 noggin. Unfortunate. I have a big head but the Sitka Gear beannie fit well. The KUIU immediately went back. Love their other stuff, though.

I got the merino beanie last week and it's uncomfortably snug.....base layers fit fine.

I've got a 7 3/8" head and LOVE the merino beanie!

Let me clarify my post. I was referring to the heavier beannie. I have the merino and it fits my 7&5/8 noggin fine. Its the other one with the KUIU fabric that was the problem. I just wish he would make some in different sizes with a short brim. I really like a short brim.

I have a fairly large head and my kuiu guide beanie fits tight but by no means is a vise.  I wear lots of different beanies and they all fit very simular to my kuiu.  I think that is how most beanies fit! especially ones made of materials such as softshell.  I think if you want a less snug fit you might want to try a touque or watch cap.

I wear the 185 beenie and it stretches just fine. If I need more, I wear one of those head bands with ear coverings.

I've never really had to wear anything more than the Gaiter and beenie except for riding on the 4 wheeler, but I'm from the south

My head isn't huge, but it's definitely snug. But as others have said, the rest of their stuff rocks.

And the more I use it, I've realized that the extra cranial pressure helps keep me focused in the field.

I love the fit of all my KUIU gear except for the guide hat. My head is of normal size and I agree w/ HESS it fits like a swimmers cap on me.

Hahahahahahaha
I have a Cabelas Wooltimate beanie that's is also a one size fits most. It too is a bit snug so maybe it's just a universal thing with low stretch beanies. I'm a 7-1/4 but the beanie is probably a 7-3/16.

My guide beanie is also very snug. The material does not stretch at all. I may try to do an altercation.

Well, let's hope it doesn't come to that. I've heard KUIU gear can be scrappy in a bar fight.
