Way to go Langer boys. That is quite an accomplishment for both of you. The smiles tell it all. I know the feeling!      It's been fun watching little Billy grow up on my TV. I've enjoyed every minute of it.

WOW!  Congratulations.  You beat a lot of us around here to your first traditional whitetail.  Great looking shot, too.  Keep up the hard work.

Thanks for making Billy and myself feel so good about it, we are thankful to be able to share it with all of you. Right now I am in a blind with my 8 yr old son Ben,the trophy frog hunter. We got in late and 3 deer were already near the blind and we spooked them, but there is still some time left.
When we get home I will have Billy type you the story, he is working on a boat load of home work right now.

Very Nice Bill, I got the text not too long after his feat!! Congrats to both father and son!! Shawn

Ok guys I am done with my homework, this is the story of my first deer.

My Dad and I had set the stand 2 weeks before the season which started on September 15th.  We didn't get to hunt until the 24th because of school and soccer.  We snuck into the food plot and checked the trail camera.  It had 32 pictures.  A few of them were of the spike horn that I shot.  Then we climbed up into the stand and got set up.  We practiced what we would do if a deer came, and then we waited.  About 20 minutes later Daddy says, "There's a deer."  So, I slowly put my DS (a hand-held video game) away.  Daddy doesn't believe they belong in the woods, but he gave me a "pass" on the first night.  Daddy had actually heard the deer sneeze as it came into the field.  I grabbed my bow and stood up.  I ended up standing for 40 minutes, waiting for the deer to give me a shot, while mosquitoes were bombarding me.  Finally the deer gave me a shot and I didn't miss the chance to shoot. The deer was at about 15 yards when I shot.  After I shot I got all excited and started jumping around in my stand.  I asked to call Mommy, and I did.  After I talked to Mommy we got out of the stand and went to check for blood.  There wasn't any blood until we got to the tree line but we could see the run marks.  When we got to the tree line there was a spot of blood on a downed tree.  Then we tracked it down farther into the woods and onto an old logging road.  And that's where I saw a bit of tan and white sticking out of the grass even before Daddy did.  Then I said to Daddy, "I think that's my deer over there."  I put an arrow on the string and snuck up to it.  The deer was finished.  I had made a good shot.  I picked the deer up by its antlers and we took a few pictures and called some of my cousins and my Popa.  Then Daddy gutted the deer and we dragged it out of the woods to the truck.  We drove back home and showed Mommy and my brothers and sister my buck and took more pictures.  Then we drove down to the yard, a place my uncle owns where we meet after our hunts.  We took more pictures, then weighed the deer, 80.3 lbs dressed, then we skinned it.  Finally we quartered it and took it home and put it in the cooler.  The next day I had backstraps fried with bacon, onions, and peppers.  It tasted wonderful. I was glad my Daddy was there with me.  :archer:    :archer2:
