hunt quiet chest waders?
« on: September 28, 2011, 10:54:00 PM »
I need new bootfoot chest waders and prefer breathable uninsulated so they aren't so darn hot as the neoprene waders. I also am not interested in stockingfoot waders with separate wading boots. The problem is that I need the waders for a couple of good whitetail spots and need something with tough fabric that is quiet enough to hunt in if they are made. I can't really change out of them because of multiple deep water crossings in the area. i have some breathable waders for fishing that are really comfortable but awfully noisy for hunting. Thanks for any recommendations.

What you are describing for hiking will not hold up well to thorns. We wear LaCross rubber insulated hip boots for Sika hunting (mostly in Dec) and they will hold up. I'd go with a rubber set if possible. At any rate buy a good patching kit with the waders.

Possibly what I am looking for is not made. I only need them to be durable enough for light brush and willows. I do NOT want rubber or neoprene. The breathable fishing waders are fine except far too noisy and usually are stocking foot design.

Not sure if it will work for you but I thought about an inner tube and some rope one year that the water was up around here.

I know they do make a lightweight packable pair but in hipboots. I don't think they make them in chest waders.

Not trying to sound silly, but can't you go native and just get wet.  That's how we do wood duck hunting early season in the swamps.  It gets a little nasty at times but is usually worth it.

Check Grey's boot foot waders.
