I like the X  that you see on the side of a 3D with 4 4s.  I've shot them for years....

I only use feathers. I wish they didn't cost so much more than the silicone.

I shoot 3 x 4'' helical. I'm very specific in what I shoot since I've been using a traditional bow for about a month, aka, I shoot whatever is in the box.   :)
No, he's talking about feathers, not vanes. Using vanes will give you terrible flight if you shoot off the shelf. You can get away with it if have an elevated rest. They are a lot louder, though.

4x4 parabolic 90 degrees. No matter how you grab them they are always nocked right and I only have to buy one color feathers.

Snag (David Lawson) made me a couple of dozen in 4x4 and that's all I want now. As above, always nocked right and fly great.

Another plus for 4x4 is that you get 1'' more feather for stabilization and 1'' less feather and shelf contact than you do with 3x5.
were it worth the trouble? Huh? What trouble?

Rob,
I really like the looks of the 4" banana cut feathers. Did you buy them or cut them yourself? Or did you use a feather burner?

I shoot 4-4" shields on almost all of my arrows, and 3-4" shields on some of my others. Good luck and safe hunting.

I wonder if I could re-chop these into shields. Nanners would be better but with the high part at back that`s outta the question.
