A Sparrowhawk landed. Now compared to my other Mohawks
« on: September 30, 2011, 07:58:00 PM »
When Vince came out with a new version of his longbow I knew I was gonna have to have one.  It showed today. 68 inches of Osage, Cocobolo riser with Osage flare.  55# @ 28.  Osage if one of my favorites and will only get better with age. This one is gonna get a steady diet of wood arrows and be in the woods very soon.  Very happy.

I think she'll do just fine with the others

Gonna do some shooting this afternoon with all of them and see how they compare.  Thanks for all the comments. Really want to get this one in the woods.

Mighty shiny bow.  Like the others I would be interested in how it shoots compared to the others.  It sure takes alot of looking to see it all.

Got to shoot for a length of time finally.  First thing I didn't think it was possible but in the smoothness I give the edge to the Sparrowhawk over my other Mohawks.  When drawing to my anchor it just seems to want to keep going...nice.

This one being all Osage is slightly heavier than my other Mohawks.  I was expecting to have more of a "thump" with the all Osage limbs but that is simply not the case.  Speed and cast are comparable to my Bamboo 'Hawks.  With the thicker limb core and narrower limbs it has more of a "longbow feel" to it.  I also noticed that the Sparrowhawk is more forgiving of a "less than perfect" release compared to my others.

After shooting the Sparrowhawk I decided it will spend alot of time with me.

These are the first 4 shots with the Sparrowhawk from 18 yards

I shot one of my 66" Bamboo core alternately with these shots.  I went with a straighter grip on the Sparrowhawk but was able to go back and forth with the other grip easily

Needless to say I'm very happy.  Hopefully this answered some of the questions guys were asking.
