Old bear arrows
« on: July 09, 2007, 02:09:00 PM »
Neighbor had a garage sale this weekend, He had some old bear cedar arrows that were flu flus, they also had the old green razorheads, the arrows were yellow with blue creasting and bear written on them, big red feathers, He never shot them, I broke down and give him 5.00 for them, question I have is should I put them up or wing them at pheasents this fall?

Shoot'em, but I'd glue on new nocks. Don't want to take a chance at breakin a knock off and dry firing the bow.  Been there, done that.  :knothead:

Like Van said. They don't make 'em like that anymore. But, if ya do shoot them, do like TimZ said and replace the nocks first.

I agree....new nocks. I had an almost disaster with my Dad's old arrows. Either way, nice find!

I'm with Van on this one!  Wish to heck i'd kept some old archery things from back in the 1950-60 rather that shooting away, selling, giving, etc.

I'd hang them up to enjoy, they are a piece of history that is no longer being made. Frank

I had an old gentleman from this site that doesn't post much send me several dozen really old arrows by Bear and some from Browning. His only request was that they be shot and hunted with. I wish I kept count of how many critters I stuck with those arrows. There was something special about those old woodies. They all seemed to fly perfectly. Wish I could say the same about some of the shafts you get today. It just doesn't seem to be the case. I say "shoot them"! They aren't serving their intended purpose sitting on a display rack. Kill something with them and then display them. CK
