I hunt in Gonzales county near Nixon.  Plenty dry there. Hogs are still around quite a bit.  I have not yet seen any legal bucks except for those on trail cam pics.

I'll be back after them this weekend hunting out of a new tree stand.  We'll see how it goes.

Maybe we should get together after bowhunting season is over. It would be nice to meet fellow TG'ers that live close (relatively speaking).

Could not get up at 5. Got up at 8 instead and but a serious ground blind, which I needed yesterday to get close enough to the does. Setup is beneath a black walnut tree about 15yds from several trails....

Getting together sounds great! Sent a few PM's. Think you boys would do good to give the moon a rest. Man I'm bummed at no deer. Might give chance for rain too. Cloudy today but you couldn't get rain here if clouds had it. Think we're on a 100 year sun cycle. Might ask Al Gore to do a rain dance if this isn't his weekend saving whales.

Got a doe at 7:45 she was heading from water through an oak flat to a bedding area.  Several came through before sun up but she was a straggler that stayed out to late  ;)

Just back in and every mosquito in ETX had a go at me. I'm at least a pint low! On the hunting side, nada.

I don't see how mosquitos survive a drought. You would think there would be none.

Mosquitos eggs can lay dorment for aong time and they only need a coke bottle top of water to hatch and grow.  So them skeeters are drought tollerant for sure.  Just lying in wait for a little moisture.

I will be headed to Center City, TX. on the 15th.

Wish me luck, have never killed a dear with a bow yet, but I am pretty sure this is my year.

I'm glad to see lots of rain today.     :D    And we've got a lot more coming.

BTW, I do a lot of saltwater kayak fishing. If you think the mosquitoes are bad in the woods, saltwater mosquitoes are twice as large and when they stab you, you definitely notice it!

This good rain system should green up any vegetation for the deer and might even get the hogs on the move.
