I purchased a 10 year old Great Plains Rio Bravo take down recurve about 9 months ago and I believe I was atleast the third owner. The top limb broke, but I hold nothing against Great Plains. I love the bow and how it shot and I can honestly say that I dry fired the bow once before, as I'm sure we all have from time to time. I drew back and my fingers pinched the knock off the string and I released without knowing. This did not break the bow, but through time it began to delaminate from a crack in the wood. Ok, Ok now to the question. I love the looks of a true custom recurve, but the pains of getting new limbs are timely and costly. About 410 to be exact, but I would then have a brand new bow as fare as I'm concerned. The other option I have considered is to get a bow like the Hoyt dorado. From what I hear they are very durable and shoot very well. It would also be very easy to get a new set of limbs or different poundage limbs depending on my neads through the years. I know that they are not what most of us consider traditional bows, but at the end of the day without attaching a sight I have no advantage over anyone else. I would appreciate any advise, or suggestion that might help me out. Even different affordable bow options that you may feal fill my niche rembering that I'm not trying to stray away from instintive shooting, so I don't nead adjustable tiller limbs, stabalizers, sight options, and lasers.
