how to make a longbow, selfbow

Sorry, I may be able to find it here if I dig long enough, but I am new to this site. What I would like to know is what is the best reading material that I can get or website that I can visit to learn how to make my own longbow or selfbow. Also, I have found a few sites but all seem to utilize orange osage, can I use anything else as I am in the east and orange osage isn't readily available? Thanks a lot for any help.
