? For Morrison Shawnee Shooters
« on: January 13, 2007, 11:42:00 PM »
I'm wanting a Morrison Shawnee with Dakota limbs and in a 64" length. My question is, should I go with an A riser or a B riser. Aside from the obvious lenght of the risers which one has the best feel and performance, or is this just a personal preference thing. Totally confused in Ky.  :help:

I shoot a Shawnee TD w/Dakota limbs, 64", 64 lbs @ 30"  Bob built mine with the shorter riser (It's the one featured in the main photo on his Shawnee page (Macassar Ebony w/Honduran Rosewwod flare, Copperhead Skins).  Smooth to draw and has plenty of room/view through the sight window.  More photos on my website.

Bob would be the best to advise you, probably.

Longer riser, larger sight window, more mass, ability to increase bow length. think it comes down to personal preference. 'feel' is an individual thing.

I have had an A riser and am now shooting a B riser.  I prefer the B riser.  I think it fits my style of shooting better and I like more mass in the riser.  The best thing about it though is that it has a Med recurve grip with longbow limbs.  The best of both worlds for me.

Thanks everyone, I talked with Bob today and he suggested a B riser for my shooting style. Can't wait.

Don't want to throw a wrench in the works at this point, but FYI, I shoot a Shawnee with 64-inch, 56# Dakota limbs.  Unlike some of the other folks who have already commented, I tend to like a smaller (A) riser, locator grip and less mass.  It is a personal preference thing.  Good luck.

richbear, give Bob Morrison a call, I believe he is planning to attend a traditional shoot in West Virginia next month and you could probably try them out there if it is not to far from your Kentucky home. Then you will know what feels best for you.
