Footing experiment. FYI
« on: October 16, 2011, 01:43:00 PM »
I was footing some new Victory shafts I recently purchased. And since there been some talk lately about how the footing might effect spine. I thought I would try a little experiment. I checked the spine on a new shafts and it spined .355ths deflection. I then slid a aluminum footing on the shaft 1" @ a time and checked the spine. I was suprized to see that there was no change in spine till I got to 10" of footing and even then the deflection only decreased by 5ths. Between 11 and 12 " the amount of deflection started to decrease significantly that one inch increased the spine by 15ths. Just thought someone might be interested.

Virtually all the bending in an arrow takes place in the middle. The weight of the footing may have a small effect on spine as well.

That is what I would expect, thank you for conducting a good experiment to eliminate doubt.

Love it.   Thanks for posting this.

Been trying to talk a few non-Gang folks into this concept and this will help.
