ground blinds

What type of ground blind would you recommend (preferably having experience with) for me to use with a partner (kid)?

You are probably looking to purchase a pop up, but I have been hunting with my 10 year old son sitting in natural blinds.

Some are brush piles from lanes that we have cleared through the brush and some are just logs and branches piled up by a tree or bush.

On Friday, we sat in a briar patch under a dead jack pine. The briars were tall enough that just our heads poked out. We had 3 does come in and offer 2 shots... (missed both). I had to stand to shoot, but it worked out real well.

I carry a pair of pruners with me and used them to clear a sitting area. I even use them if I am still hunting and have to pass through a thick area, instead of breaking branches to get through.

Anyway, that has been working for us this year... and it is free.

I've used double bull blinds with my kids.  They really enjoy it and it covers some of the movement if my little one.(4yrs)

I myself often use natural blinds, but with a kid I don't think they will offer enough cover to conceal their unintentional (and constant) movements...so, yes...I am referring to the pop up tent types. I am interested in one that would be suitable for me to use with a short longbow (less than 60") and also for my kids to use while hunting with by other means.

Hey Lee--I have a few left.  They are large enough for me and another grown man to hunt from, both using longbows (one shooter at a time).

It's a hub-style to boot--can be put up or taken down in a minute or less (minus tie-offs and stakes).  They are great for kids.

I went hunting last night with my 9 yoa daughter in the blind that Chad sells.  It is roomy.  You can shoot a 64" longbow with no problem.  I cut a piece of carpet for the floor in the blind.  It has a great feel, not too small.  You will not be disappointed in this one.

I love the Barronet 350. Tall at 80" I can stand comfortably and it's roomy enough to walk around in if I wanted to (seriously). They are very economical as well.

That looks just like the Primos Escape Deluxe (which is what my son and I use). I do have to shoot sitting down however. But I can stand up when needed.

I would do a natural one and also buy one. Do a natural one to start with go out one afternoon with them let them help build, they may think it;s fun. Hunt in it that night or the following and once you sit it for a hutn decide if its time to go to plan b or stay with the one they helped you build. I know I enjoyed helping setup treestands and blinds with my father when I was younger.
