If I were in your neighborhood I'd be packing an Uzzi!  About the same less the handgun here in Rogues Island.

Pretty much in the pic. EgJ, no way I'd go out w/o a 15 shot 9mm within 100 miles of the border! I've encountered illegals in OUR pasture near Alice!! That was before the cartels got involved. Way too dangerous now!

What do I take....way to much stuff. I remember when I would leave the house with my bow and arrows a rope ,knife and an apple in my pocket. A pen to fill out my tag and my license. Now I have more packs and bags and quivers, harnesses and stuff to fill a truck....lol.......half the stuff I never use! It seems those were simpler times!

I hunt close to home, often for only an hour or two at a time.  The only things that "Always" go with me are:

Bow
Arrow (w/ broadhead)
Tab
Knife

Of course, if I have my quiver with me, so there will also be spare arrows and toilet paper.

"No handguns in Canada? Really? "
The bleeding heart liberals don't let law abiding people protect themselves here in the great white north. If we carried handguns, how would the poor criminals make a living?
I've seen people get arrested for protecting their property from thieves.

Short hunts

broadhead wrench/puller (I shoot trees.) with extra blunt screwed in it
first aid kit
belt knife
Browning folder with bone saw
30' of parachute cord
15' prox of climbing line (for dragging)
surefire p6 with extra bats
extra string
extra glove
multi-tool
gallon ziplock for liver & heart
1 qt canteen
binocs
orange tape
cell phone (off)
almonds
HS scent wafers (cow elk urine for elk, pine and earth for deer)

all-day hunts

compass
map
head lamp
folding bone/brush saw
50' climbing line on caribiner
2 qt bladder type canteen
signalling mirror
trioxane tab
bic lighter
snicker minis
pocket shelter
toilet paper
rain gear

WHEW! I thought I packed light. Anyway, believe it or not that all fits in web gear on a military pistol belt with ALICE and MOLLE pouches including the butt pack and I used to wear the LBG H harness when I shot a compound but found I can't shoot my recurve worth a plug nickel when I'm strapped in all that stuff, so I rigged up some wide elastic suspenders to the "meat hook" snaps from the issue harness.

I carry the bare minimum anymore, don't hunt far from home or truck. Did start carrying small pepper spray last season, have had to many encounters with dogs in the last few years !  Seems city folk are moving out and letting there dogs wander , while in Indiana last fall we encountered 3 groups, of 4 or more large dogs, 2 of the groups lowered there heads, growled and approached us, pepper spray helped on one occasion. The other incident was closer to the truck and just worked itself out. Todd

For short hunts

Bow with two hunting arrows
Bow quiver
Sharp knife of my own make
550 cord
GPS for marking sightings and kill spots
Water bottle
Snacks
TP
Everything but the bow and arrows in a haversack
45 ACP 1911 on my hip
3 mags 15 rounds each
The gun and ammo weigh more than every thing else combined. Dang methheads don't understand anything but a loaded gun at times.

I used to hunt javelinas down  in AZ.  Too many night time visitors and I am not a resident so could not carry.  I do here in NV and that little 45/410 does not pose a threat to any but bunnies and birds. They do not care about it in bow season
Pack pack- just packed for a hunt this weekend- has the same basic items

Kel Tec 380 in my off hand pocket

We're surrounded by National Forest and NF land gets a lot of pot farmers and dealers these days. Plus the regular trespassers.

I have the "Golden Roll" but I forgot to take it out I guess.  There's alot of good stuff here, that I didn't think to carry.  I guess since our place is just a big back yard, I never really think about it.  However on my other hunting trips to where I'm in unfamiliar places, there's some ideas on here I'll probably take into consideration.

And by the way, it's still hot down here... and that Double Bull is doubling as a sweat lodge....Thus the reason for the fan!!
