Duco Cement-Where to buy locally?
« on: October 19, 2011, 05:41:00 PM »
It's been quite a few years since I needed arrow making supplies and for pretty much all the necessities I still have plenty but am on my last tube of Duco. Used to be able to buy at the local wallyworld but was at two stores today with no luck. Mind you it has been maybe 5-6 years since I bought any.

So where do you guys find it other than traditional shops where shipping kills the price? Will pick some up next shoot, etc I'm at but need a tube or two to get me buy till then.

Wal Mart doesn't carry it any longer. I buy it at a local lumber/DIY shop.

Kelly, here on the Indiana, Illinois border, the Family Dollar stores have it.

Ace has it too, about 3 times the price!

Looked all over town around here and didn't find it.  Tried all the dollar stores I could find.  Ended up finding it at a Family Dollar store in the next town.

Now if I could just find barge cement.

Ace sells it for around $4 a tube, Family Dollar about $1 a tube. It has to be a Family Dollar not a Dollar store. The Dollar stores don't sell it.

That reminds me, I am driving past a Family Dollar on my way hunting this evening, better pick up a few tubes on my way to the woods.

One thing I have noticed about Duco is they have changed the formula.

I use a plastic squeeze bottle full of Duco when I fletch arrows. In the past the glue got thicker over time in my bottle, now it gets thinner, to an almost water like consistency.

I get mine at a local Ma & Pa hardware store (just checked - they are a True Value affiliate).

Note that the Fletchtite nozzles fit on the 1 oz. Duco tubes.

Thanks to all. Will try to find a Family Dollar store as I prefer to pay less than what my local Ace charges-almost $5. It was bad enough having to pay $5.34 for a tube of Fletch-tite, yesterday but I needed it. Still had some in the pint can but it turned to gel.

Tom, the story I heard is that Duco quit selling to them because they were undercutting other retailers so badly at $.99 a tube.
