Big Jim Buffalo Bow 60” 50@28 2 Piece Takedown
Redwood Veneers, Desert Ironwood Riser, Aoudad Horn Tips and riser overlays
I got a package in the mail a week or so ago and with my work schedule a other commitments I’ve been tormented and unable to get to it. I have posted other builds here but I think I just received the Holly Grail of bows. My go to bow is a 60 45@28 Big Jim Buffalo Bow It has collected meat and when ever I am out the door on a hunt it’s the bow in my fist. It has always seemed to make me a better shot than I am and has nursed me thru an ailing shoulder. I decided I want a heavier duplicate 60 2pc but 50@28 so I got on the “List” and with a few calls and my request to incorporate California woods into the bow the moment arrived……
Redwood Veneers that are spectacular with light and dark swirls, tiny bird’s eyes and the colors are almost not photographable. Jim added some weight to the center of the bow with a Riser built from Desert Ironwood (My striped Ebony 60” weighs 1.7 pounds the 60” Desert Ironwood Buff weighs dead on 2 pounds and the difference feels like it’s in the riser) and I love the feel of it. Jim called me on the grip and matched the Ebony perfectly. The tips and riser overlays are Aoudad Horn... beautiful light dark contrast kind of a chocolate over caramel look perfect for the Redwood limbs veneers and the Ironwood riser. I love the look and feel of this bow. I took it out to our local range and Oh my….. This is a sweet bow!!! Ebony may get a little rest finally with this new Buff in the hood….
Thank you
Jim I flat out love this bow and as usual you delivered more than expected…
