Skinny carbons and skinny strings= #3 for the year!
« on: October 20, 2011, 07:12:00 PM »
I just got in from a windy but very productive evening in the treestand.

I set up in a group of red oaks, about 20 yards from where I killed a big doe on our opening morning.

All was quiet until 5:00, I saw deer coming up out of the brushy bottom. There were 4 in all. I was set up with a big cedar tree about 4 yards in front of me. I know it would make great cover if the deer came the direction I expected them to...and they did    :bigsmyl:

I let the lead big doe step broadside at 15 yards, then executed a near perfect shot. I was using a lighted nock for the first time. It left no doubt that the shot was perfect.

The big doe ran 50 yards, stopped, then fell over!  What a great season it has been for me. I have sat 5 times in a tree so far and killed 3 mature does!  Guess it's time to start looking for a buck    :goldtooth:

The only pics I have are on my brand new Iphone.  I'm not tech savy enough yet to get them on the computer. I could text them to someone if you would be willing to post them for me.

Here's a pic. I just muddled through it!  It's probably best that I'm not in the pic anyway   :biglaugh:

Good going Allen, your a killin machine man! Was a windy and wet day here in NY saw a flock of turkeys almost got a shot but luck. My cousin saw the same flock and a big buck! Were gonna hit him hard until gun season maybe we can stir something up! I wish I could help you with the pic. Im sure someone will step in though.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I shot her with my Gen I DAS, Axis 500 with 50gr insert and 125 gr Thunderhead. It was a complete passthrough. The arrow clipped the back half of the shoulder blade going in, and exited right in the 'pocket" on the off side.

I had just picked up the arrows from Floodman on here in a trade. I set them up today with one of my 6 strand D10 strings. I spent maybe 20 minutes at lunchtime tuning, then knew it was time to hunt with them!

It sure feels nice when you make a good clean kill!    :jumper:

I absolutely love the quiver. It's pricey, but well worth it.

Good work Allen. I've been after the little buggers myself, but all I can find are bucks. Go figure.

Congrats Allen-guess you will be eating good this winter. Nice deer.
