What are the odds?
« on: October 21, 2011, 12:00:00 AM »
What are the odds of building your own bow and chasing a bear with it?
A few facts.
The bow I am building is a copy of a 1957 Kodiak Special.
The bear I am hunting lives on Kodiak Is.
The bow I am using for a template was a gift from Fred Bear to the first mate of the Valiant Maid, when Fred took that hugh bear on the beach we have all seen the footage of.
What are the odds of a quest like this coming together?  Ill post as the bow comes together and the groups get smaller.
Have fun Jeff

Oh wow, how about some pictures of Fred's bow first. That would really water our mouths.

The parts are in for the bow. Going with Zebra limbs and Cocobolo riser. I have the form built. Hope to be pulling the bow out of the oven by sunday.  I will get some pictures of the process and the old Bear bow posted soon. I need to find a fifth grader to show me how to post pictures.
Have fun, Jeff
