I have the priviledge to exclusively hunt 125 acres of prime deer country. In 15 years, I have harvested some beautiful deer from this property. That being said, I am always trying to improve.
The property is very remote, and a mixture of northern hardwoods with stands of conifers, very hilly, with step gulleys, creeks, and 2 ponds. the prpery climbs 1200 ft. (thousands of acres of the same surrounding it)
The tough part, is the access is only via an east - west logging road, (entering from the west) and the hill slopes entirely to the west. Winds almost exclusively westerly. I have a number of stands, but really enjoy the stalk in, which takes quite some time. Nearly all of my success has come from the stalk out in the late afternoon. The gulleys of course run east-west as well.
Any thoughts / tips from the experts?
