Miss a chip shot last year, I believe the over confidence didn't allow me to pick a spot. It happens to everyone sooner or later. Clean miss is easier to forget than a poor shot.

Even Ty Cobb and Mickey Mantle struck out once in a while. It happens ....makes you think there are NO chip shots with trad.
Why I keep saying " this is hard to do, no matter how many you have killed or how long you've hunted" ....of course I've missed "chip" shots..2,4, 10 yards....

3x last year. 2x from ground blind and 1 from tree stand. 8, 8, and 12 yards.
And yes, the clean misses ARE easier on the conscience.

opening day last year I missed a doe from a hang on stand. Shot right over her back, 5 YARDS! 10 minutes before that I took a practice shot at a leaf on the ground at 15 yards and center punched it.

I don't guess you would call it a "chip" shot, but I sent one over the back of a nice tall 6 pointer yesterday morning at 24 yards. I could already taste his back straps too! I thought he was mine for sure!
I guess it just wasn't his time to go.

Anybody who hasn't missed a chip shot hasn't been hunting very long. Traditional archery is somewhat like golf in that it is a great lesson in humility. But when all the stars align and everything comes together, it is a great feeling. The easy misses just confirm our humanity.

My most memorable was a 380 class bull elk at 8 yards
And yes it still stings. If yea shoot at enough critters it's bound to happen.

I missed a 12 yard shot at a little doe a few weeks ago. My shot went right under the deer's chest. TRW
