tom,
thanx for your support, and the support of all the folks contributing to help pay our monthly bills.
the problem that terry and i have had for years is our ubb forum software - it was grandfathered about 6 years. if you know something about forum software, ubb is/was the best flat file forum software in its heyday.
since then, forum software has progressed to a relational mysql database platform that offers all the bells 'n' whistles we require, which includes auto image resizing and other much needed improvements such as a registration "captcha" check to stop the hundreds (yes, 100's!) of daily spam bots from registering (which is why i've been manually registering all new members since the beginning of this year - you wanna talk about work?! yikes!).
what all that stuff means is that we need to get off ubb and onto mysql. we've tried that at least 5 times, with different mysql software vendors and all have failed miserably, so far. trad gang is just too big, too robust, too dang *complicated*.
so although money is always an issue, the real roadblock is the software conversion, and so far there are no clear cut answers to make that happen. but we're definitely still trying. we have to, we have no choice.
much obliged, sir.
rob.
